I don't know if I'm allowed to open a tread in English, but I would find it very interesting even if my english is not perfect

I would like to talk with you about prejudices against foreign countries and their inhabitant. Be honest, what do you think for example of British of French people? Why do you think they act like they do? What are your clichés? I find it always very interesting to hear, what people think to know only because they where in a country for a week or so.

I heard it very often that people think that French people are very impolite only because they don't want to talk english with them. Or because they don't give beer money in restaurants. But most of them don't know that in France you don't give beer money, because it is already included in the price of the meals. Or that they don't talk in english with you because the majority just can't talk english and they don't want to make a fool of themself. With this accent you wouldn't understand them anyway. And I know this, because half of my family comes from France.

What did you have for experience? I would realy want to hear your honest opinion

Prejudices are pretty stupid. If you don't know the people, you can't judge them. Also, if 9 people of a country are mean, it doesn't mean there isn't 1 of 10 that is bad. In alle countries there are both good and bad people.

That's exactly the way I think. It is like prejudices against the weather. My geography teacher tried to explain me, that the weather in the Bretagne is always bad and cloudy and cold. And she was only there for one week . And I'm there every year so I think I know it a little bit better than her. I was so angry^^
